112 Electronic Freedom (page 112)

Electronic Freedom

It is important that citizens doesn't have to own electronic decices from one or a closed set of manufactors if they want to communicate with each others.2014-08-06

One way to fight for this right is the work and supports for free and open standards. Another is to support manufactors which use free and open standards. A third way is to support the production of new development and research for new products which will use free and open standards - maybe as showcases of the new free and open standards.2014-08-06

The fight for electronic freedom is the fight against vendor lock-in where the vendor sells its products with a lot of great looking or promising features where the main goal is to lead the customer to use these features which may only be available by other user the customers of said products or products for from this vendor or so you as a customer th try to convince others potentially to buy the same products. Often the customers will save some of the medias they have created themselves like photos, videos, texts and audiophiles which may be almost impossible to transfer out side the closed repositories of the vendor. And often you can only do it to a lesser quality than the original.2014-08-06
